When you create a curriculum page, you gather the resources you want your students to use online and put them in one place so that the time students have in the lab (or in a one-computer classroom "station") is not wasted trying to get to the sites. Plus, they can then refer to this page from home.

To do this:

  1. Decide on your lesson objective(s).
  2. Open a Word document to save the resources. (I have found this to be very helpful; if I try to find sites and put them into one of the tools at the same time, I often end up losing my work and it's very frustrating!)
  3. Find resources (this is the most time consuming part of the process). As you find them, copy the URL and the site name onto the Word document. Write one-or-two sentences with an explanation/directions for the students. (It is best to do it at this point while you remember WHY you picked that particular resource.) Save often!
  4. Decide on your tool. (TrackStar; Web Worksheet; Filamentality; Teacher Web; Word document IN Teacher Web; GooglePage, etc.)
  5. Go to the tool you choose and transfer your sites/directions. :)

Note: There is nothing wrong with using a tool someone else has put together if a) it matches your objective and b) you check to make sure all the links work properly.

Today we will:

A) Spend the first hour looking for resources.

B) Spend the next two hours putting your curriculum page (or pages!)  together.

When you start school you will have a great resource already created!
